Bielorussian Tatiana Drozdovskaya is the new Laser Radial World Champion

Australia’s Tom Slingsby is the Laser World Champion

The Belorussian Tatiana Drozdovskaya and the Australian Tom Slingsby have today been crowned world champions in the Laser Radial and Laser Standard classes respectively. The medal races, held in the afternoon, were thrilling to watch and showed the level of competitiveness of both fleets.

After a day with no races due to the strong wind that swept across the race areas, Cascais was once again the stage of a fantastic day of sailing. On the 8th day of the championships, two more champions have been determined.

In the men’s events, Australia’s Tom Slingsby confirmed his favourite status and overcame his direct opponents. At the end, he was able to celebrate his first world title. New Zealand’s Andrew Murdoch climbed into 2nd overall, securing silver, and Deniss Karpak, of Estonia, clinched 3rd. Gustavo Lima was 10th and qualified Portugal for Beijing.
